Music Before Everything: A French–American Cultural Dialogue

A meeting of French refinement and American vitality, where melody, rhythm, color, and atmosphere move freely between two cultural worlds.

We are delighted to open our new season with an evening that brings together music and visual art. The evening will feature the work of French visual artist Noelle Imparato, PhD, founder of Painting For Life, among her many creative endeavors. The musical program will be presented by beloved local musicians from Peabody and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra: Shirley Yoo, piano, and Rene Shapiro, trumpet.

As 2027 marks the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, we begin our season by celebrating his music. Dr. Yoo will present a program featuring works by Beethoven.
Mr. Shapiro will explore American and French musical voices, featuring music by George Gershwin and French composer J. G. Pennequin. Ramilya Saubanova, president of our organization, will join Rene in this part of the program and will also perform a short piano work by Daniel Crozier, an American composer, Peabody alumnus, and professor at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.

As is our tradition, the evening will begin with a performance by Young Artist, David Bernardo Dacanay III, piano.
We are excited to welcome everyone back after the summer break and to begin another season together!
