Natural Dyes Workshop at Blue Light Junction

This September, Blue Light Junction is inviting color curios to a new Natural Dye Workshop: Alchemy of Color.
A 3-day workshop where participants will experience and understand the relationship between colors and materials. Working with plant-based fibers, participants will gain a deep understanding of how different modifications shift one single dye material into new tones.

Using cutch as our primary dye, tannins, mordants, exhaust baths and post-dye modifiers on cellulose (plant) fiber, we will learn how to create a range of tones from cinnamon to chocolate brown to caramel and peach. Participants will also learn how to set up a dye kitchen at home to continue their exploration with natural dyes and their potential.
