No Rehearsal – aptly named because they never rehearse before performing – is the RnB band redefining live music with their spontaneous, soulful style. Comprised of five master musicians with backgrounds in Neo soul, jazz, classical, RnB, and gospel, the band has been together for nearly a year. They started as a trio with a residency at Mt Vernon Marketplace before expanding and moving on to a residency at Oversea Distillery in Columbia, and recently completed a summer residency at Horseshoe Casino.
Led by the dynamic Nadira France, who changes the cadences and melodies of verses on the fly, and supported by musical director and pianist James “Ramz” Ramsey, bassist Allen “Aldo” Branch, drummer Raimondo “Mondo” Johnson, and guitarist Matthew “Seven” Woods, the band crafts captivating remixes in real time. They even auditioned for NPR’s 2024 Tiny Desk competition with an original song “Calling Your Name,” created on the spot in one night—just like they do on stage. For No Rehearsal, every performance is a unique experience fueled by raw talent and unbreakable musical chemistry.
