Home Events Salonnière Extraordinaire

Join Musica Spira for a re-creation of an intimate evening in the 18th-century Parisian salon of renowned harpsichordist Marie-Françoise Çertain. Works by the most prominent composers of the time were premiered in Çertain’s salon, with her accompanying at the harpsichord. The concert features music for soprano, viola da gamba and harpsichord by Élisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, Marin Marais, Jean-Baptiste Lully and Marc-Antoine Charpentier. (Music Breathes) brings the underrepresented stories of early modern female musicians to life through thought-provoking programs that shed light on women’s multifaceted contributions to music history and advocate for the continued empowerment and recognition of women in all times and places. Grace Srinivasan, soprano; Paula Maust, harpsichord; Alexa Haynes-Pilon, viola da gamba.
