Season Of Wonder Holiday Concert featuring Clayton Bryant

Clayton Bryant performs on December 18 in the famous “Green” Church, formerly known as Mount Vernon Place United Methodist Church, now known as the Mount Vernon Place Church. Clayton is an acclaimed multi-genre singer whose extraordinary voice has uplifted audiences worldwide. He has performed with Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, John Legend, and Ashford and Simpson. His soulful blend of pop, gospel, and jazz has garnered Grammy and American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) awards.

Baltimore’s own cabaret artist Mariah Bonner – home from Argentina — and pianist and songwriter Marcus Dagan will open with season’s favorites and surprise you with new tunes.

The “Season of Wonder” Holiday Concert is the first offering from the newly-formed UNITE Mount Vernon, which acquired the iconic Mount Vernon Place Church in July 2025. UNITE’s mission is two-fold: to preserve and restore the distinctive architecture of the Church and to play a vibrant role in Mount Vernon—Baltimore’s historic heart.

The Holiday Concert marks the occasion for another launch – an Ivy Bookstore Holiday Pop-Up curated by owner Emma Snyder. Part of the proceeds from book sales will benefit UNITE Mount Venron’s programming and restoration of the Church.

UNITE Mount Vernon is proud to launch with a free Holiday Concert — donations gratefully accepted! – especially because music was a key to the building of the Mount Vernon Place Church. Its Methodist founders had broken away from an earlier group partly over a musical controversy. Any music other than hymn singing was considered sinfully distracting by some, but not at the Mount Vernon Place Church. A magnificent organ was immediately installed after the Church opened its doors in 1872. It was the fourth-largest in the nation and full of innovations. Some of the pipes were powered by water. And sparks generated by the organ itself were used to light the gas lamps in the sanctuary.
