The amazing Saxophonist, Composer, Educator, Recording Artist, & Grammy Award Winner JOE LOVANO swings into Keystone Korner Baltimore with his quartet on Friday & Saturday, April 8 & 9!
During this Pandemic moment in our lives, in 2020 and 2021, Joe and his wife Judi Silvano collaborated on a series of livestreams to raise money for fellow musicians and to bring the beauty of their shared expression to an international audience. Joe played multiple reeds, percussion and drums and Judi sang vocalese in addition to original songs with lyrics, played percussion and improvised an original painting on canvas during the performances.
Joe wrote 8 new pieces between March and September 2020 which were recorded and filmed in Trio with John Menegon and Lamy Istrefi at The Villa and released via YouTube as “Live In The Pines.”
In early 2021, Joe released two new albums: the second Trio Tapestry recording on ECM Records, Garden of Expression, and the third album from the Joe Lovano & Dave Douglas Quintet – Sound Prints, Other Worlds, on Greenleaf Music.
Today, Joe and Judi live in the Hudson River Valley area of upstate New York. Although he’s busy touring and recording, Joe is an avid swimmer and somehow still finds the time for an occasional 18 holes of golf.
When he’s home, Joe Lovano enjoys landscaping, a good match for Judi’s love of gardening. Together, when not making music, they explore the forest that surrounds them, stay busy enjoying their extended families in Cleveland and New York.
Joe continues to compose and vibrates on tonalities throughout the day and lives a creative life of music. Stay tuned to see and hear what he comes up with next!
