The Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra

Experience an evening of bold, expressive modern jazz with The Todd Marcus Jazz Orchestra, an exceptional ensemble bringing together musicians from Baltimore, New York, and Michigan.

The group is a nonet featuring six horns—bass clarinet, alto saxophone/flute, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet and trombone—alongside piano, bass, and drums, with an optional vocalist. This distinctive instrumentation allows for a rich, layered sound shaped by thoughtful compositions and imaginative arrangements.
The music blends straight-ahead jazz with influences ranging from classical music to Middle Eastern themes, exploring a wide range of moods while swinging hard and highlighting the ensemble’s diverse and compelling soloists.

About Todd Marcus

Bass clarinetist, composer and bandleader Todd Marcus is one of the few jazz artists worldwide to focus primarily on the bass clarinet. While the instrument is often associated with avant-garde and free jazz, Marcus has carved out a distinct straight-ahead voice for the bass clarinet in modern jazz. His music combines fiery intensity and introspection, swinging powerfully while maintaining a strong lyrical sensibility.

This performance offers a unique opportunity to hear an innovative ensemble led by an artist redefining the role of the bass clarinet in contemporary jazz.
