They Are Gutting a Body of Water

Philadelphia band They Are Gutting a Body of Water brings its experimental shoegaze to Ottobar, joined by guest Big Nick. The group folds hazy, guitar-heavy textures together with electronic and digital sounds, creating music that can feel both immersive and unpredictable. Its album Destiny XL includes “Eightball,” “Texas Instruments” and “Double Apple,” while later releases such as LOTTO show a band whose catalog keeps expanding beyond a single sound. For listeners drawn to dense guitar atmospheres and left-turning production, this show offers an up-close encounter with a distinctive voice in contemporary experimental rock.
