Tour of Southwest Baltimore: History, Art and Community Revitalization

This walking tour of Southwest Baltimore offers a rich and immersive experience, combining historical landmarks with vibrant street art and community-driven revitalization efforts. Visitors will explore the heart of SoWeBo (Southwest Baltimore), where they can witness firsthand the transformative work of the Southwest Partnership, a local community development corporation (CDC) dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods like Poppleton. From historic homes and cultural landmarks to murals that reflect the community’s identity, this tour is a perfect blend of past, present, and future. It showcases the resilience and pride of SoWeBo through key stops, including historical sites that offer a glimpse into Baltimore’s cultural significance, and spaces undergoing revitalization thanks to the work of the Southwest Partnership.

This tour is part of Doors Open Baltimore, an annual celebration of Baltimore’s built environment and neighborhoods. Hosted by Baltimore Architecture Foundation, Doors Open Baltimore provides month-long opportunities to explore Charm City. Our open house day, October 26, will open doors to 40+ iconic and hidden gem buildings for free, public exploration. Learn more at doorsopenbaltimore.org
