This workshop is open to children ages 4 to 16 and FREE to the public. Ornaments will be for sale online (see virtual sale information below) and in the gallery during our UNDER $500 exhibition hosted at Maryland Art Place on Friday, December 9th from 6 to 10pm. All proceeds from the sale of the ornaments will go directly to the child who created the ornament. Ornaments will be used to decorate our UNDER $500 holiday trees which are installed in the gallery each year.

The workshops will be hosted by MAP’s exhibition manager Caitlin Gilll. There will be multiple stations with directions for children to choose from. Each child can create limitless ornaments under the direction and supervision of MAP staff and volunteers (please do not leave your child unattended). All ornaments created will be displayed at MAP during the evening of the Sale event on Friday, December 9th – Wednesday, December 14, and available for purchase. The accompanying Parent will receive one FREE ticket to the event. All participating children or children aged 16 and under receive free admission to the event.

We look forward to seeing you at our FREE workshops at Four Ten Lofts on Saturday, November 12 and December 3 between 1-3 p.m. No pre-registration required! Four Ten Lofts is located at 410 N. Eutaw St in Baltimore, MD

UNDER $500 is a hybrid, physical and virtual exhibition event. The physical exhibition opens Friday, December 9th from 6pm-10pm. Artworks may be purchased by patrons and taken off the walls on a first come first served basis that night. All works will be wrapped in brown paper with MAP’s signature holiday bow.

The virtual sale will launch the very next day, Saturday, December 10 at 10am and run through Wednesday December 14, 10 p.m. The virtual sale will include more artists than the physical sale. *Please note: applications received will be selected for either the virtual sale (featured online) exclusively, or for both the physical (featured in gallery) AND virtual exhibition (featured online). Your acceptance letter will indicate in which capacity your work will be presented.

MAP will maintain gallery hours Saturday, Dec. 10 through Wednesday Dec. 14 from 12-4 p.m. for any remaining physical works that may be left for purchase.

AFTER PARTY: On December 9, once the sale closes, MAP will open up its basement venue, UNDERBar for a post-event party, Ticket holders and artists have access to both the sales event and party. Guests can expect light fare, open bar, our fabulous drag queens and music from DJ Aran Keating of Ridiculous Entertainment. This year’s theme? UGLY SWEATER!
