Undercover Note, featuring the remarkable talents of saxophonist Nii Akwei Adoteye, is a jazz trio that is poised to take the Keystone Korner Jazz Club by storm. Comprised of high school seniors Minh Vo on piano, Eleanor Ohm on bass, and Bradley Rich on drums, the members of the trio have been wowing audiences throughout the Washington DC metro area with their dynamic performances and exceptional musicianship.
All three members of Undercover Note have achieved remarkable success in their musical endeavors. They have all won auditions to prestigious ensembles such as the Montgomery County Honors Jazz Band and the Maryland All-State Band, and have been gigging musicians in the region while still maintaining academic excellence. Eleanor, the bandleader, has further distinguished herself by winning auditions to prestigious national orchestra programs such as the Boston University Tanglewood Institute Summer Festival and the National Youth Orchestra 2 at Carnegie Hall. She will be touring this summer with the Carnegie Hall National Youth Orchestra USA.
Bradley and Eleanor have also won auditions to the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO) for over five years, while Minh and Bradley have routinely won auditions to Paul Carr’s Jazz Academy Orchestra. They have all been mentored by a wide range of exceptional musicians in the DC region, including Chris Allen, Eric Byrd and Paul DeNola of the National Symphony Orchestra.
The addition of Nii Akwei Adoteye, known for his passionate and powerful performances, takes Undercover Note’s music to another level. Nii Akwei has performed at prestigious venues such as the Kennedy Center and the Ferguson Center for the Arts, as well as internationally in Germany, the Netherlands, and Ghana. He has worked with acclaimed musicians such as Emmet Cohen, Marquis Hill and The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Nii Akwei is also the director of 11th Hour Music, a music program that offers private music lessons, ensembles of every genre, and youth mentoring. In that position, he has been fostering collaborations of young, exceptional musicians from between schools including the members of Undercover Note.
Together, Undercover Note and Nii Akwei create a dynamic and captivating sound that is not to be missed. With their debut at the iconic Keystone Korner Jazz Club, the group is poised to make their mark on the jazz scene and beyond.
