Poe Fest International returns to the M&T Bank Exchange on Friday, October 2, for an extraordinary opening night featuring the world premiere of Vincent Price: What Keeps Us Alive, a new documentary celebrating the legendary actor whose unforgettable performances helped define Edgar Allan Poe on screen for generations.
Victoria Price, author, speaker, and daughter of Vincent Price, returns to Poe Fest International as our special guest of honor for the premiere and a live conversation about her father’s remarkable life, art, and enduring legacy. The fully authorized film features rare archival material and interviews with family, friends, and admirers including John Waters, Tim Burton, Alice Cooper, Bill Hader, and more.
The evening also includes live Poe performances and an exclusive preview of The Curious Life of Edgar Allan Poe, the new Ballet 5:8 production appearing at Baltimore’s historic Hippodrome Theatre the following evening.

The fully authorized documentary goes far beyond the familiar image of Hollywood’s master of the macabre to reveal the remarkable man behind one of the most recognizable voices and faces in popular culture.
Through rare archival material and intimate interviews with Price’s children, Victoria Price and V.B. Price, the film traces a life of fascinating contradictions: a classically trained actor who redefined screen villainy with wit and intelligence; an art collector, educator, gourmand, and lecturer; and a generous mentor whose influence reached far beyond the horror films that made him famous.
The film brings together an extraordinary collection of artists and admirers, including John Waters, Tim Burton, Patton Oswalt, Hank Azaria, Bill Hader, Cassandra Peterson, and Alice Cooper, reflecting on Price’s influence across film, comedy, music, art and popular culture.
