Lisa D. Cain, a native of Canton, Mississippi grew up in a small town and church. Her parents Mr. Percy Lee Cain and Mrs. Bernice Cain, community and grandmother, Mrs. Louvenia Torrance had a great influence on her development as an individual. A self-taught artist and a memory painter, her predominate painting style is traditional folk art, acrylic paint on canvas which is simplistic in design but deep in meaning.
Lisa states It is through my paintings that I connect with the feelings and the memories of individuals. I can only paint what I feel. It is through my art that I tell the stories of people whose voices may now be silent. I am a visual storyteller who seeks to connect with others on a deep and intricate level.
In this program Lisa will share information about the basic foundations that have contributed to the development of her art. She will also explain her artistic style and how she paints. To visualize more of her art visit www.lisacain.org.
