WILD
From July 28 August 1, Lorelei Ensemble will be in residency at The Voxel with composers Angélica Negrón, Tina Tallon, and Pamela Z to create three new works for treble vocal ensemble, which together make up WILD. Testing the limits of modern technology, layering soundtracks of spoken language and the natural world and merging poetry with music, WILD is about controlled borders and vast landscapes, freedom and constraint, clarity and distortion and the ways we use organic and artificial intelligence to resist and embrace wildness in ourselves and the world around us.
During the workshop performance on August 1, you will hear a sample of the three new pieces of music, experience the creative process up close, and be invited to provide real-time reactions and feedback. Baltimore-based musician Wendel Patrick will lead a lively discussion involving the composers, performers, and audience members.
The performance and discussion will last approximately 90 minutes and be followed by a reception where you can meet the musicians and other audience members.
