Opened in 2011 by James “Jim” Hamlin, The Avenue Bakery is home to Jim’s enormous “Poppay’s Rolls,” as well as a delicious selection of breads, cakes, pies and pastries.
Located on the historic Pennsylvania Avenue, the bakery walls are covered with trail markers and pictures that tell the African American story in Baltimore. It highlights the Pennsylvania Avenue Heritage Trail, which is a historic walking trail that is part of the Star Spangled Trails.

From Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, Royal Theater and all the entertainers that played there, to Thurgood Marshall, Parren Mitchell and all the political greats that have contributed much to make this country great.
