This platform contains free trainings for the hospitality and tourism industry in a flexible format that can be taken at your own pace. It’s a resource for partners, small businesses, volunteers and students to learn about Baltimore as a destination and to enhance the tourism experience.
Charm City Certified
Unlock your potential in tourism with Baltimore’s Charm City Certified course. Learn local tourism basics to elevate our destination and propel your career forward. Charm City Certified participants have the opportunity to engage in ongoing education and professional development opportunities to stay current with industry trends and best practices. Baltimore residents and tourism stakeholders who complete the training program may be eligible for discounts or special offers at participating businesses and attractions throughout the city.
How to Access the Course

- Sign up for the platform.
- Keep an eye out for the welcome email with the course link.
- Complete the training at your own pace (estimated time: 1 hour).
- Download the Charm City Certified Certificate assets (included in the online course) and spread the word.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Expiration Date for the Course?
Your certification expires on June 30, 2026. On July 1, 2026, the new pass will be ready with new updates for the year.
HOW DO I ACCESS THE TRAINING MATERIALS?
Once you’re enrolled in the Charm City Certified course, you’ll receive an automated email from Tourism Academy confirming your account. You’ll also receive an email from Visit Baltimore that introduces and links to the new course.

HOW LONG DOES THE COURSE TAKE TO COMPLETE?
The course includes training videos, quizzes and a downloadable certificate to showcase your completion of the course. You could complete the course in one hour but can always pause and pick up where you left off if you need to take breaks or complete over multiple days.
CAN I TAKE THE COURSE ON A PHONE OR TABLET?
Yes! The training is mobile-friendly and can be accessed on any device with an internet connection.
Insider Pass
The Insider Pass is a benefit for individuals who complete the Charm City Certified course on the Tourism Academy platform. It is meant to encourage industry partners, residents, hospitality students and volunteers to experience our city and explore restaurants, cultural attractions and more in Baltimore. The Insider Pass will feature coupons and exclusive offers from local businesses and attractions. It is valid for the same amount of time as your certification.
