Cordially Invited IX
Make Studio is excited to announce the highlight of our fall programming season, the 9th installment of Cordially Invited! Cordially Invited is our annual invitational exhibition celebrating the creativity, perspectives, and professional contributions of artists with disabilities from across the U.S. and around the world.
On view from October 16 – November 23, Make Studio’s CordialIy Invited IX highlights the exceptional and thought-provoking art produced in progressive art studios. For nearly a decade, Cordially Invited has provided a platform for artists from these studios to share their work with the public, highlighting the creativity and diversity of disability arts while creating opportunities for local audiences to experience perspectives they may not otherwise encounter.
This year’s exhibition features over 125 artists from 32 participating studios, hailing from as near as Rockville, MD and as far as Madrid, Spain. Details about exhibiting artists and participating studios will be featured on Make Studio’s website, along with the Cordially Invited digital exhibition of over 265 featured artworks. Visitors are encouraged to attend an opening reception on Saturday, October 17 from 2-5 PM.
New to this year’s iteration of Cordially Invited, we will be featuring “Progressive Pairings” – an initiative that connects nine Make Studio artists with artists from nine other progressive art studios across the country to collaboratively curate paired artworks for the exhibition. The public is invited to join the artists participating in this year’s “Progressive Pairings” on Saturday, October 24 from 10 AM-1 PM for an artist talk and community art workshop event. Artists will share their artistic practices and the collaborations they created for the Cordially Invited exhibition. Following the artist talks, there will be an open art workshop where attendees of all ages and abilities can create their own artwork alongside Make Studio artists.
