Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Voices Within: Tchaikovsky & Shostakovich

The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra explores the hidden emotional worlds of Tchaikovsky and Shostakovich, with Jonathon Heyward conducting and Vadim Gluzman featured on violin. The program opens with Vítězslava Kaprálová’s brisk Military Sinfonietta, then turns to Shostakovich’s deeply personal Violin Concerto No. 1 and Tchaikovsky’s searching Symphony No. 4. Across contrasting voices and eras, the music moves between tension, restraint and emotional release. It’s a chance to hear three distinctive orchestral works come together in a concert shaped by the power of music to express what words cannot.
