Historic Whitehall Mill Tour

Whitehall Mill is the historic renovation of the old Clipper Mill which was constructed from 1865 to 1875. Before the construction of this building, Whitehall Flour Mill resided on this site. When the property was acquired by Horatio Gambril and David Carroll, they transformed the flour mill into a textile mill as was common at that time along the Patapsco and Jones Falls rivers. It later became part of the Mount Vernon-Woodberry Cotton Duck Company, which in the late 1800’s produced 80% of the world’s cotton duck, twine, yarn, lamp wick, sheeting and other cotton products. The structure is currently being converted into apartments, offices and a marketplace for the Hampden-Woodberry neighborhood. Go on a guided tour to gain insight into the history and future of the mill as it’s being transformed!

This tour is part of Doors Open Baltimore, an annual celebration of Baltimore’s built environment and neighborhoods.
