Maryland Emancipation Day: A Vote of the People

Similar to Juneteenth–a national celebration of emancipation and the end of enslavement in areas of the former Confederacy–Maryland celebrates Emancipation Day on November 1. This marks the date when a new state constitution ended the institution of slavery in 1864. Join David Armenti, MCHC Vice President of Education & Engagement, in conversation with Marcus “Sankofa” Nicks, Founder of History Heals Consulting, and Maya Davis, Director of the Riversdale House Museum. This virtual program is free and open to all audiences. Registration is required.
