Moon in Scorpio
Galerie Myrtis extends an invitation to the opening reception for “Moon in Scorpio,” the inaugural solo exhibition of acclaimed artist Megan Lewis. The reception is on Saturday, May 11 from 2 – 6 p.m. The exhibition promises a captivating journey into the depths of Black masculinity, offering a profound counter-narrative to prevailing stereotypes and misconceptions.
Programming includes an Artist Talk on Saturday, July 20 from 2-4 p.m. featuring Megan Lewis in dialogue with Dr. Myrtis Bedolla. The artist’s talk is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. RSVP is required to attend (details for registration to be announced).
“Moon in Scorpio” serves as a platform for Lewis to challenge and reframe negative tropes associated with Black masculinity. With a keen eye for detail and a deep empathy for her subjects, she confronts stereotypes head-on, presenting multifaceted portrayals that transcend superficial labels. The exhibition compels viewers to move beyond preconceived notions and engage in a dialogue that celebrates the diversity and resilience of Black men.
