Oz Noy and Ozone Squeeze

Ozone Squeeze, featuring Oz Noy on guitar, keyboardist Rai Thistlethwayte, Darren Stanley on drums, and vocalist Sara Niemietz of Postmodern Jukebox. Bridging the emotional resonance of classic song forms with an exploratory impulse drawn from jazz and the outer limits of improvised music, Ozone Squeeze is a compelling snapshot of a new band reveling in the moment – audibly enthralled with the wide-ranging potential of their collective dynamic. This band performs with neo-soul silkiness, funky tang and virtuosic heat with floral jazz notes and earthy rock and blues undertones.

Israeli-born guitarist Oz Noy is a progressive and iconoclastic artist who incorporates a wide array of styles into his own work, including funk, rock, blues, and jazz. Having performed from a young age, Noy was an in-demand studio musician by his early twenties. A move to New York City in 1996 eventually led to tours and session work with such artists as Chris Botti, Toni Braxton, Jeff “Tain” Watts, and others.

Rai Thistlethwayte is an Australian jazz, pop and rock musician and songwriter, known being a member of Snarky Puppy, as well as working with Knower, Joe Satriani and Jacob Collier. Thistlethwayte is an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and vocalist, while also being the lead singer and primary songwriter in the Australian pop rock band Thirsty Merc. In 2012, Rai came to Los Angeles and started writing and performing extensively, landing opening slots on tours with Bernhoft and Oh Land. His music soon attracted the attention of the LA music community including tastemakers like Chris Douridas of KCRW.

Atlanta-based drummer-extraordinaire, Darren Stanley is one of the young lions of the creative Atlanta music scene. With degrees from Jimmy Herring’s 5 of 7 Band and certifications from the Col. Bruce Hampton School of Zambi, his rhythms are sure to bring the heat.

Chicago-born singer/songwriter, Sara Niemietz, whose star has been constantly on the rise, amassing extensive recording, stage, and screen credits since the age of four. From starring on Broadway, to being a first call for vocal sessions, to touring with Postmodern Jukebox, Niemietz has spent countless hours immersed in music. Her collaborations with Scary Pockets, W.G. Snuffy Walden, and B.J. Thomas have resulted in countless singles and albums in an ever-expanding catalog. She has appeared at The Grand Ole Opry, at Radio City Music Hall, on The Ellen [DeGeneres] Show and on MTV UK. Her vocal talents bring to Ozone Squeeze a fresh kick that is wonderfully indescribable – best to just experience it for yourself.
