Historian of science and technology, William Gerhardinger, joins MCHC for an in-depth discussion of timekeeping, its cultural significance, and the role objects play in shaping perspectives. Drawing on from his research as a Lois F. McNeil Fellow in the Winterthur Program in American Material Culture, as well as his experience as a professional clockmaker, Gerhardinger will explore how clocks serve as a mechanism for establishing and upholding standards of courtesy and decorum in the United States.
