Baltimore Symphony Orchestra - Heyward conducts Schumann & Brahms

Music Director Jonathon Heyward leads the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in a program connecting Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms, whose artistic friendship helped shape the Romantic era. Violinist Isabelle Faust joins the orchestra for Schumann’s introspective Violin Concerto, followed by William Grant Still’s lyrical “Mother and Child” and Brahms’s radiant Symphony No. 2, with its flowing, nature-inflected character. The three works move from intimate reflection to expansive orchestral color, offering a rewarding evening for listeners drawn to expressive violin playing and the rich sweep of the symphony.
