Visit Baltimore Works for You
Why Join Visit Baltimore?
In the past decade, the meetings and tourism industry has grown to be one of Baltimore’s primary economic engines. Just take a walk around. Look for convention attendees wearing name badges, visitors armed with brochures and shopping bags, people with loads of luggage hopping into cabs at BWI/Thurgood Marshall International Airport and Penn Station, and trucks unloading behind our hotels and the Baltimore Convention Center. Visitors are not always so visible, but they are here. And independent research says they are here in big numbers: more than 11 million annually and they spend nearly $3 billion.
With the work of Visit Baltimore, the city’s official convention and tourism sales and marketing organization, and the continued development of our visitor infrastructure, more and more people are discovering our city and the region.
Our Sales Team is actively pursuing conventions, meetings, reunions and group tours through sales calls, tradeshows, partnerships with leading industry organizations, advertising and public relations, and hosting meeting planners in Baltimore so they can experience our “convention community” and so much more for themselves. This aggressive approach to selling our city generated a record number of bookings – 522,000 room nights for future years – in fiscal year 2009, more than doubling the number booked as recently as Fiscal Year 2004.
Visit Baltimore is also engaged in the hotly competitive battle for tourists. Capitalizing on the famed Inner Harbor; renowned museums, attractions and historical sites; diverse neighborhoods; and a culinary scene that’s drawing rave reviews around the globe, our marketing and public relations campaigns are casting a wide net for more visitors.
And once they are here, we ensure that they know about the many options that our members offer by starting their experience at the Baltimore Visitor Center on the Inner Harbor.
As a member of Visit Baltimore, you will be on the inside track to attract and develop new business. We’ll be your link to the hard-to-get-to meeting planners and the lucrative tourism market. Don’t miss this great opportunity to cash in on this rapidly growing industry. Join Visit Baltimore today!
