From one-of-a-kind local boutiques to national retailers, shopping in Baltimore is as fun and diverse as its hip and historic neighborhoods. Larger retail centers include Harborplace and The Gallery, located on the Inner Harbor. Harbor East is fast becoming the city’s upscale shopping destination (think Under Armour Brand Store, Anthropologie and Lululemon). A mix of boutiques can be found in Federal Hill, Fell’s Point, Hampden and Cross Keys as well as along the Charles Street Scenic Byway. A walk down Antique Row presents an amazing collection of shops featuring items from the past. You can also find large malls – retail and outlet – in the area.

Public markets are also a popular way to shop. The Lexington Market is one of the oldest in the nation, while the Cross Street Market in Federal Hill and the Broadway Market in Fell’s Point attract a mix of locals and visitors. Farmers markets appear in season and offer a wide variety of foods, goods and crafts and are just plain fun to explore.

For a truly authentic Baltimore shopping experience, put Baltimore's burgeoning maker culture at the top of your list. A good many local artisans sell their wares out of their own brick-and-mortar retail shops throughout the city, and to explore these spots and their offerings is to experience Baltimore in an entirely new way. Find decadent handmade brittle at Natasha's Just Brittle. Order a custom laser-cut journal at Drama MaMa Bookshop. Sample locally made whiskey and rum at Old Line Spirits. Build a terrarium at B. Willow. Plus, when you shop at maker-owned retail spaces, your dollar goes further in helping the local economy.
