The Visit Baltimore Foundation is pleased to announce the City Schools Transportation Fund! Understanding that early exposure is critical, we are excited help get more City elementary and middle school students to Baltimore attractions that are not only providing amazing, STEM-rich and City schools’ approved learning experiences; but also, that are thriving examples of the depth and breadth of assets and future careers available in Baltimore’s tourism community.
In partnership with our friends at Academy Express, the Foundation is guaranteeing $20,000 to provide motor coach transportation for students to a handful of these Baltimore area sites including the Baltimore Museum of Industry, National Aquarium, Maryland Zoo, Rawlings Conservatory, Museum of Electronics, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and more. We have also created the first unified listing of all available STEM curriculum-embedded field trips on our own website – Baltimore.org/cityschools. This new system promotes, in one place, experiences that some teachers may not otherwise have been aware of; enables teachers to streamline their request for experience scheduling and transportation fund dollars through a smart, interactive form; and, empowers the Visit Baltimore Foundation team to easily share those requests with the educational contacts at our participating attraction partners.
As of October 1, we have already connected 38 schools to 8 partners, ensuring over 3,400 students can engage in these eye-opening, inspiring and curriculum-supportive field trip experiences.
Our ability to offer transportation assistance is made possible in part by your philanthropic support. $285 covers the cost of one motor-coach for 3 hours – that is approximately $5 per student.
Please consider making a contribution to help us ensure more students can not only participate in – but also get to and from – these transformative experiences.
