Can’t make it to Ireland anytime soon? No problem. Grab a pint and learn about the iconic draught stout, plus new innovative brews, at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery, a sister location to Dublin’s original brewery and the first Guinness brewery in America. Located on the site of the historic Calvert distillery in Baltimore County, 10 miles from downtown Baltimore, Open Gate offers guided tours with beer experts that include tastings. The brewery also offers a taproom with a full dine-in menu and a beer garden.

Admissions And More Information

You can drop by the brewery to visit, drink, and eat, but you’ll need to purchase tickets to go on a tour. Pre-booking is always a good idea, but drop-ins are welcome, depending on availability.

First-come, first-serve on-site parking is available. If your entire crew will be drinking, consider taking public transportation. The MARC and Amtrak train stations are just a Lyft ride away from the brewery.

Thursday 3 p.m.–10 p.m.
Friday 12 p.m.–10 p.m.

What It's Like

If you’re coming thirsty, consider taking the hour-long tour ($19 per person)! You’ll learn about Guinness’ history and try your hand at their famous two-part pour. Guests must be age 21 and older to participate. The brewery serves a menu of Guinness beers brewed in Baltimore and a selection brewed in Dublin.

Get lucky at the brewery’s annual St. Patrick’s Day weekend celebrations featuring special beers, food, and roving entertainment. During the rest of the year, the brewery hosts weekend brunches, University of Maryland alumni nights, and appreciation nights for U.S. military, first responders, and members of the hospitality industry.
