Visit Baltimore's new president and CEO, Al Hutchinson, started two weeks ago, and he recently reflected on his first few weeks on the job and what's to come in the future. Below are excerpts from the first of what will be regular communications from Al to our stakeholders.
"We have much work to do, but we also have so much to build on. I am excited at what the future holds and truly believe that our opportunities are endless. To identify what those opportunities may be, I am taking my cue from all of you. My current MO is to listen – intently and to as many people as possible. This listening has to start internally, getting to know the organization and talking with the Visit Baltimore team to discuss what we do well and where our challenges lie. But this listening tour also has to go on the road to reach all of Baltimore's stakeholders – that includes our traditional tourism community and key Visit Baltimore stakeholders, but it also means expanding our team to include our community leaders, our government officials and our neighbors all across Baltimore. Because for Visit Baltimore to be successful, we need to have everyone's collective buy-in. I look forward to meeting with many of you in the weeks and months ahead to have these discussions."
