Chad Chappell, director of sales at Visit Baltimore, and Kim Allison, associate director of sales, attended the second annual Exhibitions Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., on June 9. Organized by the International Association of Exhibitions and Events in partnership with 16 other industry organizations, the event allowed industry participants to meet with policy influencers and members of Congress to discuss such issues as the Jolt Act, Open Skies, Trade Promotion Authority, and government employee attendance at trade shows and events. The Maryland delegation visited the offices of Senators Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski, and congressional representatives Chris Van Hollen, John Delany, Steny Hoyer and Elijah Cummings. The industry's issues were all well received on the Hill with unanimous agreement that our industry is a job creator and positive economic engine that is vital to our national prosperity.
