This glamorous rooftop restaurant opened in early 2018 atop the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences and serves a menu of upscale, classic American cuisine in a swanky space reminiscent of the roaring 20s. Ida B’s Table

In late August 2017, Chef David Thomas opened Ida B’s Table, a modern soul food restaurant, in homage to legendary journalist and civil rights activist Ida B. Wells. Located in a historic building, once the historic CJ Youse Candy Box Factory, also home to the Real News Network, a progressive non-profit media organization. Many of the original fixtures, including the doors, have been reclaimed and reused for Ida B’s Table. This mixture of classic 19th century design and modern comfort reflect the historical era and contemporary impact of the restaurant’s namesake, Ida Bell Wells-Barnett.

The Charmery at Union Collective

This Baltimore creamery has been a mainstay on The Avenue in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood for more than five years. The husband and wife duo who own the handmade ice cream shop have expanded to Union Collective. The space offers more room for production as well as retail sales and still offers popular flavors like Old Bay Caramel and Otterbein Sugar Cookie.

GDL Italian by Giada

Emmy-award winning Food Network chef Giada De Laurentiis opened her first restaurant outside Las Vegas in Baltimore’s Horseshoe Casino. The restaurant offers the celebrity chef’s signature Italian dishes with California flair, plus her take on Baltimore favorites like the Italian “crab cake” and rockfish cacciatore.

Gordon Ramsay Steak

Chef Gordon Ramsay, of “Hell’s Kitchen” and “MasterChef” fame, opened a new steakhouse at Horseshoe Casino serving signature dishes from his Las Vegas restaurant, such as beef Wellington and sticky toffee pudding, as well as more seafood dishes and regional specialties.

Little Bird Coffee Bar

The husband and wife duo behind Bluebird Cocktail Room, a popular cocktail bar in Hampden, have opened Little Bird Coffee Bar on the first floor of the same building. This Italian-inspired cafe serves coffee and espresso drinks, a selection of house made pastries, and classic Italian delicacies – think homemade pastas and a marinara sauce recipe passed down for generations.

Ampersea

The owners of Waterfront Kitchen rebranded this waterfront restaurant in Fell's Point as Ampersea, a play on the word "ampersand." The menu offers a modern spin on Maryland classics such as crab cakes and soft shell sandwiches, using locally-sourced ingredients, including those from Living Classrooms' greenhouse. Living Classrooms provides education and job training for Baltimore's youth.

This bistro brings authentic French cuisine to downtown Baltimore, next door to Chesapeake Shakespeare Company. Chef Steve Monnier often offers special themed tasting menus related to current shows at the theater. You’ll also find classics like escargot and French onion soup.

Union Collective

After six years, one of Baltimore’s favorite craft breweries, UNION, has expanded to a new space less than a mile from its founding location in Hampden. UNION Collective includes a new 50,500-square-foot brewery with an outdoor beer garden, plus space for a curated assembly of independently-owned, Baltimore-based businesses such as The Charmery, Baltimore Whiskey Co., Huckle’s sauces, Vent Coffee and Earth Treks. The new brewery will triple UNION’s production abilities, allowing the brewery to experiment with new types of beer and to devote an entire section of its offerings on tap to barrel-aged and sour beers.

The Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House

For the first time since 1954, iconic beer brand Guinness is opening a brewery on American soil about 10 miles from downtown Baltimore, on the site of the historic Calvert Distillery that opened in 1933. The new experience is modeled after the existing Guinness experience in Dublin, Ireland. Starting August 3 visitors will be able to tour the brewery, taste the full range of Guinness beers – including new brewery-only releases – and learn about the Guinness story and brewing processes. Future plans also include an onsite restaurant with outdoor seating and space for food trucks and live entertainment. Visitors can enjoy the Test Taproom until the full brewery opens.

The Bluebird Cocktail Room

This literary-themed bar in Baltimore's Hampden neighborhood comes from former Woodberry Kitchen bartenders. The space features large communal tables, navy blue walls, a gas fireplace, and a long bar for pub-style dining service. The cocktails (named after the likes of Ernest Hemingway and Virginia Woolf) are complemented by a menu of European bistro fare including charcuterie, fried sweetbreads, and steak fries.

Sandlot

Sandlot is the latest food-and-beverage project by James Beard Award-winning restaurateur Spike Gjerde. Debuted summer of 2017 in Harbor Point, this harbor front beach oasis features open space used for outdoor dining, recreation, live performances and family-friendly games. This summer the food and drink menu has been revamped adding an on-site garden for fresh produce, bottled kombucha cocktails, canned wine and an exclusive beer in collaboration with Baltimore based The Brewer’s Art.

Sagamore Distillery

This five-acre complex located on the water in Port Covington offers a closer look at how Sagamore Spirit whiskey is made. The 22,000-square-foot distillery building houses the production equipment, including a 40-foot mirrored-finish copper column still, the only of its kind in the world. Next door is a welcome center with a gift shop and two tasting rooms where on-site tours end. The grounds of the distillery are the perfect location for events such as yoga, corn hole tournaments and the summer festival series Whiskey on the Waterfront with live music, food and drinks.

City Brew Tours Baltimore

City Brew Tours offers daily brewery tours to Baltimore's top breweries, brewpubs and beer bars. The five-hour tours include tastings of up to 15 different craft beers, a beer pairing lunch or dinner, VIP visits to 3-4 breweries and round-trip transportation from downtown Baltimore.

Hotel Revival, a Joie de Vivre Hotel

Once a private mansion owned by an art enthusiast, and formerly the site of the Baltimore Museum of Art's inaugural exhibition in 1923, Hotel Revival, a Joie de Vivre property, opened this past spring in the Mount Vernon Cultural District. Artistic and Instagram-worthy details can be found throughout the hotel, including the vintage rotating ticker board in the lobby, the mosaic wallpaper and locally-curated art by Paradigm Gallery + Studio. The signature restaurant and bar Square Meal, and enclosed rooftop bar Topside, plus three private karaoke rooms are the icing on the cake.

Sagamore Pendry Baltimore

In the heart of the maritime neighborhood of Fell’s Point, what once was a storage cargo pier is now the gleaming Sagamore Pendry Baltimore, a luxury hotel perched atop the restored Recreation Pier built in 1914. During its lifetime, the pier has welcomed immigrants from around the world, been used a community center, stored port cargo and served as a television studio before being abandoned for many years. Today it features 128 guest rooms and suites overlooking the harbor, a waterfront infinity pool, a ballroom, a whiskey bar and an interior garden with a sculpture by artist Fernando Botero. The hotel recently joined forces with the Baltimore Water Taxi to offer a private water taxi to transport hotel guests to Port Covington’s Sagamore Spirit Distillery and Rye Street Tavern.

Crowne Plaza Baltimore

The Crowne Plaza Baltimore has opened after a multimillion-dollar renovation that began earlier this year. The 27-story, 385-room hotel occupies one tower of the complex shared by the Radisson Hotel Baltimore Downtown–Inner Harbor, which takes up an entire city block, with 707 rooms and 50,000 sq. ft. of function space. The revamped hotel includes an onsite restaurant, a grab-and-go market, a 24-hour fitness center, an outdoor pool and over 20,000 square feet of meeting space.

John Waters: Indecent Exposure

This retrospective will examine Waters’ influential career, with a focus on photographs, sculpture, soundworks and video made since the early 1990s. Among the highlights of the exhibition are Kiddie Flamingos, a 2014 video work in which children read a G-rated version of Pink Flamingos (Waters’ notorious 1972 celebration of all things outsider and extreme); a photographic installation in which Waters explores the auras and absurdities of famous films, their directors and actors; and a suite of photographs and sculpture that propose humor as a way to humanize dark moments in history from the Kennedy assassination to 9/11.

Inescapable: The Life and Legacy of Harry Houdin

Through January 21, 2019
Learn the incredible story of how Hungarian Jewish immigrant, Ehrich Weiss, transformed himself into international superstar Harry Houdini. Throughout the exhibit, visitors will have the opportunity to try out some of Houdini’s magic tricks, including the world’s smallest version of Houdini’s biggest illusion – making a five-ton elephant “vanish.” On display will be artifacts from Houdini’s life including a straightjacket he escaped from and a personal diary documenting his travels through Maryland.

Maryland Fleet Week & Air Show Baltimore

Inner Harbor, Locust Point, Fell's Point, Martin State Airport
October 3-9
Celebrate Baltimore's rich maritime history with public tours of nearly a dozen U.S., Canadian and British ships, an air show by the U.S. Airforce Thunderbirds, and a family-friendly festival at the Inner Harbor. Ships will be docked at the Inner Harbor and in Locust Point and Fell's Point. Head to Martin State Airport in Middle River for live entertainment, food and a chance to watch the aircraft takeoff for the airshow Oct. 6-7.

Mark Bradford: Tomorrow is Another Day

September 23, 2018 – March 3, 2019
Bradford’s exhibition for the U.S. Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale is making its American debut at the Baltimore Museum of Art in Charles Village. Visitors move through installations inspired by everything from Bradford’s personal experiences to Greek mythology and the universe at large. The Baltimore exhibition will also feature a site-specific installation: a painterly “waterfall” moving through the East Lobby to the second floor.

Kids Cheer Free at Camden Yards

This season the Baltimore Orioles became the only team in the MLB to offer free admission to children in an unprecedented initiative. For each regularly-priced individual game Upper Deck ticket purchased, adults can add up to two additional free Upper Deck tickets valid for use only by children age nine and under. And after every Sunday home game, kids ages 4-14 are given the opportunity to run the bases on the field.
