GBAC STAR Accreditation

Lead the industry in health and public safety practices

Learn why it’s essential for your business and the city as a whole to become GBAC accredited and take the Maryland Strong Back to Business pledge.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the GBAC STAR accreditation program is exactly what facilities need to confidently reopen and keep staff, customers, and communities safe.

– John Barrett, Executive Director, ISSA

What is GBAC STAR Accreditation?

GBAC logoThe Global Biorisk Advisory Council’s (GBAC) STAR Accreditation is the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation for facilities. This performance-based accreditation program helps facilities demonstrate they have the work practices, procedures and protocols to prepare, respond and recover from outbreaks and pandemics to instill confidence in customers, staff and key stakeholders. GBAC is a division of ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association.

What is the Maryland Strong Back to Business Pledge?

Maryland strong roadmap to recoveryMaryland Strong Back to Business is a free program available to all businesses. By taking the pledge and displaying it in your business, you are communicating with customers and guests that their health and safety is at the forefront of reopening procedures.

Why should I sign the pledge and get the GBAC STAR Accreditation?

GBAC STAR accreditation is an opportunity for those who want to take their Back to Business pledge to the next level. It ensures a greater level of confidence and trust that proper guidelines are being followed through third-party validation of efforts. As we prepare for reopening of venues where mass gatherings, high foot traffic and large crowds tend to be, this will be important in ensuring everyone feels safe visiting our city.

Who is eligible for accreditation?

Stadiums, convention centers, retail space, commercial offices, restaurants, hotels, spas, transportation facilities and more. To see if your business is eligible for the GBAC STAR Accreditation, please reach out to Camille Spilker, convention services manager, for more information.
